The School of Hard Knocks Surprise

Friday started out looking like it was just going to be another ordinary day. That was, until Lynnette Schile, the owner of Top Notch Talent in Medicine Hat gave the Petersen family a call. She informed them that she had an incredible opportunity for Katrina.

She was right.

Katrina and Ari Taub

Ari Taub, CEO of School of Hard Knocks, wanted to coordinate a fundraiser for Katrina at their Friday night School of Hard Knocks event. They arranged to have Katie, her parents and her brother Ty added to the guest list - All they had to do was show up.

Katrina in the ring with Andre Therriault

Katie was introduced to the crowd by Andre Therriault, the Medicine Hat Rep and then one of the VIP tables for the next School of Hard Knocks Event in Medicine Hat was auctioned off. The table went for a whopping $3300 which Hard Knocks donated to Katrina for her trip to England.

All this wouldn't have been possible without Ari Taub, CEO of Hard Knocks and 2008 Olympic Wrestler. Ari has a huge heart and knows what a struggle it is to be able to afford to compete across the globe. His desire to help young athletes is the reason that Katrina was able to be standing in the ring on Friday night!

Katrina with the Ring Girls and the Winner!

"We are very avid UFC watchers; it's a little ironic that we gave up watching the fights in order to save money for her trip and the very same sport steps up out of nowhere and provides an extremely successful fundraiser and phenomenal fights!! It was an evening our family will never forget." -- Christy Petersen (Katrina's Mother)

We would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in this. Lynnette Schile, Ari Taub, the owner of Slick Inspections who was the high bidder for the VIP table and anyone else who may have been involved. Andre Therriault was a wonderful host and made Katrina feel like a star -- thank you so much!!
